Our Wholesale Banking business is present and active in 11 major economies in the Asia Pacific, namely Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam. Job Overview This position is primarily responsible for handling the daily transactions including import and export trade finance transactions for both General Trade and Commodity Trade customers. He/She is responsible to ensure that all transactions received from clients and correspondent banks are handled properly according to working instructions and bank policies, to collaborate with teammates in HK and IBSS Manila to ensure proper processing of the transactions. He/She is also responsible to resolve work related problems and provide technical advice to Front Office where appropriate as well as guidance/training to the team members. Additionally, the manager is also responsible for the administrative operations, system related set up and testing as well as involvement in CSD related projects. Key Responsibilities Production activities To oversee daily operations of Trade Finance Operations and to ensure all transactions and orders received from clients, correspondent banks and Account Managers of Front Office are executed properly by the hub teams according to instruction, policy and rules/guidelines laid down by industrial and regulatory authorities. From Documentary Trade operations and risk perspective, to monitor the daily BAU production processed locally or by overseas Hub centres to ensure SLA can be met; to give advice to Account Managers, Finance, Risk Management, and Legal & Compliance on existing practice, and potential business threat and opportunity. To update the departmental processing manual (WPI) periodically and ensure all the teammates are following strictly the required workflow as well as keeping good filing of all our daily transactions for audit trail as per our internal document retention policy. To validate if all the transactions have been completed and all swift messages been released by end of day. To follow up with internal and external clients/correspondent banks on all outstanding issues related to Trade Finance transactions. Monitoring and Reporting To monitor payment/acceptance of trade finance transactions within UCP rule. To prepare periodic or ad hoc management information reports. To review nostro account statements to identify payments from correspondent banks for settlement of outstanding transactions. To reconcile transition and suspense accounts on daily basis. To complete audit confirmations for clients. To monitor the matured loans and escalate to Front Office & CRM in case of any overdue. To report in timely manner for any reportable transactions to our local Finance / Compliance. To answer inquiries received from internal or external customers as to trade finance related issues. To give advice to the clients regarding to their enquiries about the internet banking service. To participate in discussion with the Product or Business units about any new product enrollment to Hong Kong. Meeting and Project To participate in regular service review meetings with the processing teams or other stakeholders. To report non-performance of related systems, investigate and follow up rectification and remedial actions with support team. Team management To implement the designed work steps when launching the new product or when a new customer is on-boarded to the Bank. To review and streamline the operating procedures whenever necessary. To identify and convey potential problems &/or risks to superiors to protect the interest of the department and/or the Bank. To proactively handle all other duties as assigned by superiors. Solid and Sound knowledge and exposure on Documentary Credit and Collections operations, experience in Commodity and Structural Trade transactions is a must. Proven experience in Trade Finance operations with at least 10 years at the supervisory level (5 years hands-on experience in Commodity and Structural Trade Operations is preferred). Experience in Branch Operations is an added advance. Excellent Communication and management skill. Independent, strong self-motivation and able to work under pressure. High proficiency in spoken and written English. Fluency in Putonghua and Cantonese is a must.
