Full-Time School Counselor

Han Academy is seeking a dedicated and experienced School Counselor to provide comprehensive psychological support and counseling services across all grade levels—from Primary (Year 1) through Secondary (Year 13). This role is essential in leading the school’s mental health initiatives, managing Special Education Needs (SEN) documentation, and fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for students' academic and emotional growth. Key Responsibilities Counseling & Student Support: Provide age-appropriate individual and group counseling services addressing academic, social-emotional, and personal development. Conduct regular mental health screenings and early intervention programs. Offer crisis intervention and emotional support for students in distress. Facilitate smooth transitions for students entering new school divisions or coming from other educational systems. Program Development & Implementation: Design and implement a comprehensive K–12 counseling program aligned with international best practices. Develop and deliver preventative mental health education and wellbeing curriculum across year levels. Create, maintain, and review SEN documentation, assessment procedures, and individualized student support plans. Lead anti-bullying initiatives and positive behavior support programs. Collaboration & Professional Development: Consult with teachers on classroom management and strategies for supporting diverse learners. Conduct parent workshops and seminars on child development and mental health topics. Deliver professional development sessions for staff on student wellbeing and early identification of psychological concerns. Collaborate with university counselors to support senior students in post‑secondary planning when needed. Administration & Compliance: Maintain confidential counseling records in accordance with professional ethics and data protection laws. Participate in child safeguarding and protection protocols as per school policy. Establish and maintain referral networks with external professionals and mental health services. Qualifications & Experience Master’s degree or higher in School Counseling, Psychology, or a related field Valid professional certification or license in counseling or school psychology Minimum 2 years of experience working with students across multiple age groups Experience in international school settings, especially with IBDP or Cambridge curricula Familiarity with developmental psychology across ages 5–18 Training in trauma-informed care and crisis intervention Strong case management and documentation skills Cultural sensitivity and experience in multicultural environments Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Chinese language proficiency is highly desirable In‑depth knowledge of child protection policies and safeguarding best practices Your application will include the following questions: How many years' experience do you have as a School Counsellor?
