Health & Physical Education Teacher (High School) As a Health & Physical Education Teacher at the International Christian School in Hong Kong, you will be joining a team of seasoned and dynamic Christian professionals who seek Christ-centered academic rigor in our teaching and learning. Holding students to high standards, you will cultivate a positive learning environment that facilitates the achievement of the School’s Expected School-wide Learning Results (ESLRs), informed by a biblical worldview. The successful candidate will start in late July 2026. What You Will Do: Create and maintain a positive learning environment that values student care, promotes positive relationships, and contributes to the intellectual and spiritual growth of students. Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that align with the school’s curriculum policies to provide clear objectives and learning outcomes for Health & Physical Education. Enthuse and motivate students, inspiring participation and raising levels of attainment. Help to raise the profile of sport across the High School. Implement standards-based grading and assessments that facilitate effective feedback according to students’ proficiency levels for specific knowledge and skills standards. Promote the welfare of children and support ICT in safeguarding children through relevant policies and procedures. Maintain regular communication and trust with parents in a welcoming, engaging and collaborative manner. Work effectively and efficiently with other faculty members in grade and subject teams. Participate in administrative tasks that are core to the school’s operation, such as curriculum management, service on committees, as well as engagement in co-curricular activities. We are looking for someone with: Strong passion and commitment to Christian education, and the ability to integrate biblical principles in their teaching. A bachelor’s degree in Education, Health & Physical Education or equivalent awarded by an accredited university. Supervised teaching practice of Physical Education (K-12) must be a required component of the teacher training programme (e.g. BEd., PGCE or PGDE). A minimum of 2 years relevant experience of teaching Health & Physical Education (including aquatics) to secondary school students. Familiarity with international school curriculum and pedagogy is preferred. A valid lifesaving certification such as first-aid, CPR and Bronze Medallion, or demonstrated willingness to become qualified in a set timeline. Demonstrated knowledge of the best practice of using sports and fitness equipment. Knowledge and understanding in national sports associations, their game rules and regulations that are relevant to school lessons and games. Proven effective classroom management and Games Day (e.g. Athletic Meet) organization experience, with the ability to handle emergency situations with appropriate safety protocols and a calm demeanor, that supports student development and models biblical principles. A team player with a positive attitude and growth mindset, and the ability to interact positively with faculty, students and parents in all aspects of school life.
