Job Description The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS), working with more than 200 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland, is committed to advancing patient services, research, and training and education to the highest quality in all major areas of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. We are looking for candidates to take up positions in our clinical and research programmes on disease entities, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and other retina diseases. Job: Research Posts Organization: Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Qualifications Will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Medicine, Medicine, Public Health, Statistics or other life science‑related disciplines. Proficiency in English and Cantonese. Keen interest in research work in ophthalmology and visual sciences. Strong organisational, analytical, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills. Self‑motivation and co‑operative ability to work independently and as a team. Those registered as Chinese Medicine Practitioner under the Chinese Medicine Ordinance (Cap. 549) and with relevant experience in clinical/laboratory/statistical studies is preferred. Both local and overseas applications are welcome. Those without a Bachelor’s degree or relevant working experience will be considered for appointment as Junior Research Assistant. Responsibilities The appointee(s) are expected to assist in the research of Chinese medicine treatment for dry eye disease. He/She will also assist in clinical and research-based programmes of the team on other eye diseases (thyroid eye diseases, COVID‑19 related eye diseases, eye trauma, etc.). Providing assistance in carrying out the clinical study (literature reviews, logistic support, data collection, data management and data analysis). Providing assistance in laboratory work (specimen collection, processing, and storage). Performing other duties as assigned. Shift duties on weekday evenings, weekends and public holidays may be required. On-the-job training will be provided where appropriate. Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one to two years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to mutual agreement and funding availability.
