Group General Counsel (Based in Hong Kong) Our client, a prestigious global apparel manufacturing organization, is seeking an accomplished legal professional to serve as its Group General Counsel. This senior leadership role is pivotal in providing strategic legal direction, ensuring robust corporate governance, and managing global compliance. The successful candidate will act as a key strategic partner to the executive team, overseeing all legal and company secretarial functions while leading a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities Provide expert legal counsel on corporate governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, and strategic business initiatives. Lead, mentor, and develop the global legal and secretarial team, fostering a culture of excellence. Manage all corporate secretarial duties, including board governance, statutory records, and filings with regulatory bodies. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of complex commercial contracts and agreements. Oversee legal aspects of mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions, including due diligence. Develop and deliver company-wide training programs on compliance, legal policies, and ethical standards. Serve as the primary point of contact for engagements with government and regulatory authorities. Ideal Candidate Profile A qualified lawyer with a graduate or master's degree in Law. Hong Kong solicitor and company secretary qualifications are highly advantageous. Minimum of 15 years of progressive legal experience, ideally combining private practice and a senior in-house role within a multinational corporation. Proven expertise in corporate, commercial, and governance matters across multiple jurisdictions. A strategic thinker with outstanding legal drafting, negotiation, and communication skills. Demonstrates strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to manage complex projects under pressure. Proactive, accountable, and possesses a business-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering practical solutions.
