Overview The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Communications Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies, Advanced Electronic Components and Systems, IoT Sensing and AI Technologies, and Intelligent Perception and Control Technologies. It is applied across six core areas: Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse. ASTRI has transferred almost 1,500 technologies to industries and been granted more than 1,100 patents in the Mainland, the US, and other countries. To support our endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s). Job Responsibilities Assist in ITF R&D project as assigned Design and develop AI and data analytic software for learning system Apply LLM & VLM technologies to improve system performance and enhance functionalities Analyze, benchmark and evaluate system performance Document algorithm design and software architecture Lives ASTRI values Job Requirements Graduate in STEM-related discipline such as Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Engineering or relevant disciplines Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or Doctoral degree holder is welcome to apply Bachelor’s degree holder may be considered for the position of Engineering Associate (PI) Experience in LLM and VLM development is preferred Proficiency in Python programming and data visualization is a plus Fast learner of new technologies, good communication skills in written and spoken English, self-motivated and passionate in research and development Terms and Benefits The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
