Teacher of Special Education Needs (SEN), Mar - Dec 2026 - King George V School We are looking to appoint a teacher to join our Learning Enhancement Centre (LEC) to cover maternity leave. This teacher must have training and qualifications in Special Education Needs. The Learning Support Centre is for students with challenges to learning, such as Moderate Learning Difficulties, Specific Learning Difficulties, Autism and Down Syndrome. There are currently over 35 students in the Learning Support Centre. Applicants should be solution-focused, creative, flexible, and demonstrate a commitment to the students in their care. This period of employment would be from 9th March to 11th December 2026. Key roles and responsibilities include: Teaching and learning Identify and adopt the most effective teaching approaches for SEN students Monitor teaching and learning activities to meet the needs of SEN students Use data points to track progress and moderate curriculum where necessary Identify and teach study skills that will develop students' ability to work independently Liaise with feeder schools and JCSRS (Jocky Club Sarah Roe School) to ensure continuity of support and learning when transferring students with SEN Provide a whole school lead on the teaching of SEN students The ability to teach Maths would be an advantage Monitoring progress and assessment Set targets for raising achievement among students with SEN Collect and interpret specialist assessment data Set up systems for identifying, assessing and reviewing SEN Develop an understanding of learning needs and the importance of raising achievement among students To be responsible for the writing and regular reviewing of Individual Education Plans Attend consultation evenings and keep parents informed about their child's progress Work collaboratively with other LEC teachers and Educational Assistants To share good practice and learn from others Be willing to contribute to the wider learning community and join the CAS co-curricular programme Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and offers may be extended prior to the job closing date.
