Head of Underwriting and Product for A&H, HK and Macau Head of Underwriting and Product for Accident & Health, Hong Kong and Macau at AIG. This senior director role oversees all underwriting activities and product management for A&H products across local markets, ensuring profitability, compliance and market competitiveness. Responsibilities Oversee and manage underwriting for all Accident and Health products within local authority. Provide oversight for large A&H projects and initiatives. Work with the Head of A&H to execute plans and strategies across local markets. Underwrite individual and group Personal Accident and supplemental health risks within delegated authority. Accountability for underwriting results, profitability, business mix, and loss ratios across risk classifications. Lead the Production Underwriting team, build relationships with Alpha and Tier 1 brokers, and drive New Business and Renewal Pipeline for Group Business. Delegate underwriting authority and provide direction to all Underwriters. Ensure all policy wording complies with Corporate and Underwriting guidelines. Collaborate with Legal & Compliance on policy wording, marketing collateral and regulatory issues. Oversee risk appraisal and pricing practices to maintain underwriting margins and target margins. Manage quotation applications, risk appraisal, pricing, and adequacy of practices. Ensure appropriate aggregation and exposure levels, training, audit, and compliance documentation. Liaise with regional/global teams for risks beyond local authority. Coordinate with Regional Underwriting Manager and Actuaries on product/benefit pricing. Identify under‑performing or high‑risk segments and provide recommendations. Mentor a team of Technical and Production Underwriters. Assist Regional UW Manager and Head of A&H on reinsurance opportunities. Product Management Lead product development for all A&H products, new and updated. Maintain underwriting leadership in product construction and coverages, focusing on customer centricity and fairness. Own policy wording locally while collaborating with product development and marketing teams. Quality Control & Training Oversee policy wording registration, version control, and endorsement updates. Ensure 100% compliance on quarterly self‑audits with recommendations for training. Validate underwriting system inputs and lead the underwriter team. Provide periodic training and guidance on underwriting operations. Qualifications Minimum 7 years of technical underwriting experience in Accident & Health products (Personal Accident/Travel/Critical Illness, Group/Individual). Experience managing multiple distribution channels (Agency, Partnership, Broker, D2C). Insurance leadership experience with P&L responsibility. Highly analytical, meticulous, with strong problem‑solving, communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated initiative and sound business judgment. Knowledge of market segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition and distribution. Self‑motivated and capable of independent work. Proven strategic leadership in vision, purpose, results and team excellence. Strong relationships with customers, intermediaries and regulators.
