StepOne is a Hong Kong‑based non‑profit organization dedicated to promoting equity in early childhood development. Focused on children aged 2‑6, the organization works to close developmental readiness gaps for underprivileged children in Hong Kong. By translating developmental science into actionable programs, StepOne partners with local organisations such as IBEL Rusy and Purviz Shroff Charitable Foundation Kindergarten to deliver structured play‑based learning sessions and practical parent education. The service emphasises strengthening the parent‑child bond and creating nurturing home environments to combat intergenerational inequality. StepOne envisions a future where every child has an equal opportunity to succeed, regardless of socioeconomic background. Role Description Looking for student volunteers to assist with our early childhood development programme at IBEL Kindergarten, running biweekly on Saturday mornings from January to June. Volunteers will help facilitate play‑based learning activities for children aged 2–6 and support their parents in a warm, interactive classroom setting. This hands‑on role includes setting up stations, guiding sensory play and storytelling, encouraging parent-child interaction, and contributing to a positive, inclusive environment. It’s a meaningful opportunity to gain practical experience, complete CAS hours, support local families, and develop leadership skills—all while making a tangible difference during the most critical years of a child’s growth. Qualifications Secondary students with an interest in early childhood education, psychology, social work, or community service in general. Responsible, patient, and enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with young children and families. Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the biweekly schedule. Previous volunteer or childcare experience is beneficial but not required. Fluency in English is required; Cantonese or other language skills are a plus.
