Investment Strategist

Investment Strategist - Investment Products and Advisory Investment Strategists under the Investment Strategy Section (ISS) are responsible for formulating asset allocation strategy, preparing periodical investment‑related publications to drive investment‑related activities for Private Banking, Personal Banking, and Corporate Banking customers. The Senior Investment Strategist works closely with Product Specialists of different asset classes at Investment Products and Advisory Department (IPAD) to get updated trade ideas and product information. He/she works hand‑in‑hand with other business partners and internal stakeholders, including but not limited to the Bank’s Economic and Research Department and BEA Union Asset Management, to develop appropriate asset allocation solutions on a timely basis. The Senior Investment Strategist also serves as a regular spokesperson with the media about BEA’s asset allocation strategies and other investment‑related matters. Responsibilities Assist the Chief Investment Strategist in achieving revenue target of the Department and the Bank by driving fee income from investment products. Develop a House View on various asset classes (equity, fixed income, alternatives, FX), regions (developed, developing markets) and across industry sectors. Contribute to bilingual (English and Chinese) investment content and prepare investment publications. Work closely with business partners that include the Bank’s Economic and Research Department and BEA Union Asset Management in order to formulate a comprehensive investment view for the Bank. Communicate investment views to internal stakeholders, Relationship Managers and Clients. Attend selective client meetings along with Relationship Managers to discuss macroeconomic views and to follow up on Client requests. Attend and communicate strategy views during morning sales meetings, team meetings, product development meetings. Build BEA brand awareness in local and international media. Present investment views in media and conferences and demonstrate compelling thought leadership. Prepare periodical investment publications to drive investment‑related activities of Private Banking, Personal Banking, and Corporate Banking Clients. Build model advisory portfolios for different client profiles with suggested asset allocation. Maintain model advisory portfolios based on changing market conditions and inform stakeholders of changes recommended. Generate short and longer‑term investment themes that are relevant to Clients and present corresponding investment ideas to Relationship Managers and Clients by working closely with Product Specialists. Prepare daily market commentaries, news flashes and client‑facing investment thought pieces. Other jobs and duties as assigned by the Chief Investment Strategist. Requirements University graduate, preferably major in economic, finance, or relevant professional qualification. At least 5 years of relevant working experience. CFA is preferred. Passed HKSI Paper 1, 7, 8. HKIB qualification is an advantage. Sound knowledge of investment and financial products. Knowledge of FX is a must. Knowledge of relevant rules and regulations. Strong presentation, public‑speaking and interpersonal skills with experience of facing the media and handling difficult questions. Knowledge of Bloomberg and Reuters will be advantageous. Good spoken and written English, Chinese and fluent Mandarin being an advantage. Other Information Candidate with more experience could be considered as Senior Investment Strategist.
