Job Title: Legal Counsel (6-months Contract) Location: Central, Hong Kong Senior Para-legal or Qualified Lawyers/ Solicitors Company Overview Our client is a global financial services company with offices in over 20 countries. In Hong Kong, we are seeking an immediately available, HK qualified solicitor with excellent contracts drafting and review skills, and have worked in-house legal in financial services, ideally within a securities or financial services firm, reporting to the APAC General Counsel and assist the APAC legal teams. You should be IMMEDIATELY available. This is a 6 months’ contract, extendable depending on mutual circumstances. Responsibilities An individual lawyer contributor to the APAC legal and compliance team. Assist in the preparation of commercial agreements for execution by the firm (and subsidiaries) and its clients. Filing of documents and organizing files/records. Conducting legal research and providing comments as justification for amendments to clauses. Assisting with investigating disputes and regulatory investigations. Preparing written reports for internal and external stakeholders. Maintaining legal/case files (for example, maintaining a register of legal contract amendments). Assisting with drafting documents of all types although such documentation as Master Agreements for Intermediary Brokers, and so on are of relevance. Managing administrative dialog with internal stakeholders and external counsel. Legal cases / counsel invoice management based on work done by external counsel. Ad hoc tasks include collecting/collating documents internal record systems and supporting special/ad-hoc projects. Requirements Qualified lawyer / Solicitor – Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, UK and US jurisdiction preferred. At least three years of related PQE working experience in a law firm or with an in-house legal function. Experience within the financial services industry would be an advantage. Mature, self-motivated, and independent. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Highly organized and detail oriented. Responsible, trustworthy with a positive attitude and a good team player. Proficiency in MS Office applications. Excellent written and spoken English and strong Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) language skills are advantages.
