Job Description – Senior Product Developer (Apparel Trims & Accessories) Hong Kong Product Creation Manager, Product Development Position Overview The Senior Product Developer for apparel trims and accessories (e.g., elastics, drawcords, webbing, labels, etc.) is responsible for day‑to‑day development activities from concept through bulk production. This role supports product creation needs by coordinating timelines, maintaining product specifications, driving quality and cost optimization, and ensuring materials meet brand and customer expectations. Key Responsibilities 1. Product Development Execution Lead the trim development process – concept, sampling, testing, bulk handover – ensuring timelines, quality, and cost requirements are met. Prepare and maintain development documents, BOMs, and technical specifications within PLM. Ensure trims comply with customer performance standards through proper testing, validation, and documentation. 2. Technical Expertise & Compliance Create and update detailed trim specifications, material standards, and reference samples. Maintain the internal trim library to support design and development teams. Ensure compliance with international regulations, safety standards, and sustainability requirements. Conduct initial risk assessments for new trim applications. 3. Cross‑Functional Collaboration Work closely with Design, Merchandising, Sourcing, QC, and Production teams to align development priorities and ensure smooth execution. Assist in resolving quality issues through sample reviews, data analysis, and basic root‑cause investigations. Coordinate with vendors and factories to track sample progress and troubleshoot development challenges. 4. Process & Continuous Improvement Support the implementation of best practices, standardized workflows, and data accuracy within PLM and documentation tools. Work with manager to reduce development lead times or minimize waste in materials or sampling. Provide input to improve development processes and trim performance outcomes. 5. Reporting & Documentation Assist with development updates, testing results, and key issues for internal reporting. Provide clear and concise communication to internal stakeholders on project timelines and risk alerts. Qualifications & Skills Education Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Technology, Materials Science, or related field. Experience 3–5 years of experience in trim or fabric product development within the apparel industry. Technical Skills Solid understanding of trim construction, materials, and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with testing methods, compliance standards, and sustainability requirements. Proficiency in PLM systems, technical specification tools, and Adobe Illustrator preferred. Soft Skills Strong organizational and project‑management abilities. Good communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills. Problem‑solving mindset with basic understanding of RCA/CAP methodologies. Able to balance creative ideas with practical production constraints. Language Proficiency in English and Chinese (written and spoken). Sustainability Awareness of sustainability concepts, eco‑materials, and circular design principles is an advantage.
