Leather Sourcing Developer - Fashion Accessories (Bags, Footwear) & Apparel Add expected salary to your profile for insights Our client is seeking an experienced Leather Sourcing Developer to lead sourcing and development of premium materials for handbags, SLG, footwear and apparel. With a strong focus on leather, this role will collaborate closely with international design and product development teams to ensure the highest standards of quality, innovation, and craftsmanship. What you'll be doing Partner with design and product development teams, suppliers, and factories to provide technical guidance and risk assessments, ensuring design intent aligns with production capabilities from prototype through pre‑production. Develop, review and approve leather quality, colors, and finishes for sampling and bulk production, conducting inspections to ensure compliance with specifications. Provide technical expertise and solutions to resolve challenges in leather development and material sourcing. Oversee physical and chemical testing processes to validate product durability, safety, and adherence to customer requirements. Identify and assess factory capabilities to source the most suitable suppliers that meet quality, pricing, and delivery requirements. Monitor and evaluate factory and supplier performance to ensure compliance with international quality and social audit standards. Manage and maintain QA/QC standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and compliance. Travel to liaise with clients, suppliers, vendors, and internal teams, ensuring alignment on product quality and process integrity. What we're looking for 8+ years of solid experience in sourcing and developing leather for fashion handbag / SLG/ footwear/ apparel categories. Excellent product technical knowledge of leather materials, manufacturing processes, quality control and best practices for bags and other leather goods. Thorough understanding of industry standards, regulations, and quality requirements. Experience in luxury or high-end product environments is highly desirable. Prior experience in sourcing and developing other materials and hardware for handbags is an advantage. Keen eye for colors, textures, and detail with strong aesthetic judgment. Diploma or above in Sourcing, Quality Studies or related disciplines; professional certification in quality management is a plus. Fluent in English (spoken and written); proficiency in Mandarin or Cantonese is essential. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Highly organized, efficient, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Positive working attitude, adaptable, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and able to work independently or as part of a team to deliver results.
