Newly open Department Store Retail Leadership Role About Our Client We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Operations / General Manager to lead the pre-opening and operational setup of a brand-new lifestyle and household department store. This role requires a strategic leader with proven experience in launching large-scale retail sales operations, ensuring seamless execution from concept to opening, and driving operational excellence post-launch. Job Description Pre-Opening Phase Develop and execute the complete pre-opening plan, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Oversee store design, layout planning, and coordination with contractors and vendors. Establish operational policies, SOPs, and compliance standards for all departments. Recruit, train, and onboard the operations team and store staff. Manage procurement and inventory planning for initial stock and fixtures. Coordinate marketing and promotional activities for the store launch in collaboration with the marketing team. Post-Opening Operations Ensure smooth day-to-day operations across all departments, including sales, customer service, merchandising, and facilities management. Monitor KPIs and implement strategies to optimize sales performance and customer experience. Drive cost control, budgeting, and financial performance to meet profitability targets. Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, partners, and stakeholders. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service standards. Oversee all aspects of the fashion group’s operations, including sales, marketing, merchandising, inventory management, and customer service. Implement best practices, streamline processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The Successful Applicant Minimum 10 years of experience in retail operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Proven pre-opening experience for a large-scale department store or similar retail format. Strong knowledge of retail operations, merchandising, and customer experience management. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work under pressure and deliver results within tight timelines. Fluent in English and Cantonese; Mandarin proficiency is a plus. Experience in lifestyle, household, or department store retail sectors. Strong network with vendors and suppliers in the home and lifestyle category. Track record of successfully launching and scaling retail operations in Hong Kong or APAC.
