Platform Operations Lead (24-month contract) Join to apply for the Platform Operations Lead (24-month contract) role at Cathay Pacific Role Introduction Report To : Platform Operations Manager This role is part of our Information Technology team dedicated to enabling fast, reliable, and secure product delivery through modern DevOps practices. As the Platform Operations Lead, you will play a key role in delivering, maintaining, and continuously improving our CI/CD platforms at scale, empowering development teams to accelerate innovation and product delivery. You will be responsible for providing platform‑as‑a‑service solutions that incorporate CI/CD toolchains and agile methodologies, ensuring seamless collaboration with development teams to understand their business needs and translate them into robust, efficient infrastructure services. With your expertise in infrastructure strategy and modern platform engineering, you will design and build technology solutions that align with our roadmap, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and built to specification. Key Responsibilities Build and run automation, CI/CD and self‑healing capability platforms to support web and mobile application development, ensuring robust and scalable solutions for diverse business needs. Support CI/CD and hybrid cloud container platforms to deliver high availability and scalability, enabling development teams to accelerate product delivery without compromising reliability. Ensure seamless operations of DevOps CI/CD platforms, covering continuous integration, automated testing, environment configuration and version control to maintain efficiency and consistency across application development. Collaborate closely with application teams to understand their requirements and transform them into a comprehensive Platform Ops service catalogue that meets evolving business demands. Assess and maintain the quality of base images, library packages, CI/CD pipelines and container platforms, ensuring compliance with corporate security policies and quality standards at all times. Retire and replace redundant or obsolete CI/CD toolsets to keep the technology stack current and aligned with market‑leading solutions, driving innovation and operational excellence. Provide proactive support and guidance to application teams on service delivery, continuously improving end‑to‑end experiences based on feedback and fostering a culture of collaboration. Facilitate performance testing and implement proactive monitoring to ensure smooth application releases and production launches, minimizing risks and downtime. Enable segregation of duties through bespoke security access controls on CI/CD toolsets, and adopt FinOps practices to optimize cloud cost spending and achieve economies of scale in the DevOps environment. Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and delivery partners, collaborate across IT domains to drive business and technology innovation, and provide mentorship to platform engineers while cultivating a harmonious workplace and addressing team pain points. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology or Computer Science/Engineering, with a technical background and minimum of 8 years IT experience, including at least 5 years in IT Infrastructure. Proven technical experience working in complex IT infrastructure environments, with the ability to develop solutions and make decisions independently with minimal management guidance. Strong experience in building and maintaining relationships at senior levels and influencing stakeholders across all levels of the organization. Solid knowledge of CI/CD practices, DevOps mindset, and principles of Agile or Lean methodology, combined with proficiency in IT infrastructure and Cloud Operations. Hands‑on experience with DevOps and DevSecOps practices, and working knowledge of FinOps to optimize cloud cost and operational efficiency. Broad technical expertise across Cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), container platforms, microservices architecture, and Infrastructure as Code, with exposure to cost management, budgeting, and resource reporting. Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas verbally and in writing to diverse audiences, deliver technical presentations, and ask probing questions to clarify requirements. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills, leveraging logic and creativity for troubleshooting and root cause analysis, with the ability to identify patterns and generate informed ideas. Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a cross‑functional environment, aligning tactical and strategic work, driving change proactively, and focusing on business and end‑user needs. Professional competency in at least one technical specialization with broad understanding of emerging technologies, passion for cutting‑edge innovations, and proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Node.js, Python, Groovy, Ansible, TypeScript, Bash, and PowerShell, along with experience in tools like Ansible, Azure Pipeline, Git, Jenkins, JFrog, Terraform, Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift, and Elastic Stack.
