HGC Global Communications Limited (HGC) – leading Hong Kong and international fixed‑line operator. Responsibilities Provide daily system/database administration to manage all systems and databases (Windows, Linux, UNIX, SAN storage, blade servers, Oracle, MS SQL). This includes patching, upgrading, performance tuning, monitoring, backup and recovery for critical systems. Develop procedures and manuals to enhance operational efficiency. Work closely with peers and developers to provide daily support and advice to end‑users. Prepare reports, technical documents, implementation proposals and user manuals. Perform administration tasks on HGC cloud platforms, web servers and middle‑tier applications (e.g., VMware, Oracle WebLogic, Apache). Provide pre‑sales support on cloud services and technical assistance to both cloud customers and internal teams. Provide 24/7 standby support of incidents. Qualifications Degree holder in Information Technology, Computer Science or another relevant discipline. 3–6 years solid experience in system/DB administration and support. Experience in Cloud IaaS environment and virtualization technology (e.g., VMware, OpenStack). Hands‑on experience with hardware and software administration and recovery, including: Cloud operations and support (e.g., VMware, Commvault, OpenStack). Database, operating system, virtualization, backup (e.g., Solaris, AIX, RedHat Linux, Windows, VMware, Hyper‑V, OpenStack, NetBackup). Server and SAN storage systems. Monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk (definite advantage). Certificate of MCSE or ITIL is a definite advantage. Good spoken and written English and Cantonese. Candidates with less experience will be considered for Assistant System Administrator role. Senior System Administrator will lead a team of system administrators, perform the above tasks and produce periodic management reports.
