BAIN CAPITAL SPECIAL SITUATIONS OVERVIEW Bain Capital Special Situations has $21.6 billion in assets under management. Since our inception in 2018 we have invested over $17 billion in more than 225 deals across a balanced geographic mix of investments in North America Europe and Asia Pacific. We provide bespoke capital solutions to meet the diverse needs of companies entrepreneurs and asset owners - in all market cycles. The strategy brings together credit and equity expertise as well as corporate and real asset expertise to provide solutions which cannot be met by traditional providers. We partner with companies through their growth journey to raise capital for expansion or M&A to provide liquidity or for capital structure change. We provide solutions to asset owners to provide liquidity for complex and misunderstood assets. POSITION DESCRIPTION The Analyst program is a two-year commitment (with potential for ongoing employment following end of program). RESPONSIBILITIES Perform fundamental company-specific research in industry specific sectors visiting company management doing original on-site research in the field (with customers suppliers and others likely to have unique insight into a companys or industrys fundamentals) and attending industry conferences Perform industry-level analyses that will inform the investment process and provide critical context Build earnings models and perform valuation analysis Make proactive buy / sell recommendations and communicate your views effectively with team members Learn and adopt the firms straightforward investment process characterized by direct verbal communication and / or concise written investment summaries supported by in-depth data-driven analysis (i.e. quantitative models of market size / growth competitive positioning and financial statements / analysis valuation) GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of one yearof post-undergrad business and / or investing experience with a highly regarded investment management / banking firm or private equity firm Experience analyzing and / or evaluating companies Strong academic credentials and a demonstrated track record of successful work experience Work experience characterized by strong and disciplined analytical skills to execute data-driven industry and competitive evaluations A fundamental analytically-driven approach to investing Experience interacting with and assessing senior management teams and strong relationship building skills Ability to work collaboratively in team environments Strong analytical / modeling capability Self-motivated and high-energy with a great sense of urgency and drive to succeed Naturally inquisitive and a great listener. Flexible thinker with strong drive to find the right answer Creative approach to due diligence Excellent communication skills able to synthesize complicated analyses concisely and to articulate insightful conclusions compellingly.
