Resident Engineer

Resident Engineer (TCP T5 – Site Formation, ELS & Superstructure Works) Act as the RSE & RGE T5 & T3 and RSE’s & RGE’s Representative full time on site; Accountable and report to the AP/RSE/RGE and take-in-charge of the RE Site Office for implementing both the RSE’s and RGE’s supervision; Implement and monitor the HKHS’s integrated quality assurance system, site safety and environmental systems on site; Take overall responsibility to check the site safety measures in compliance with the requirements of supervision plans; Carry out specific tasks as per the requirements and checklist devised from RSE/RGE and representative of Client; Supervise the junior TCPs comprising Assistant Resident Engineers to check the essential items for specified tasks, including but not limited to superstructure including precast construction, ELS, site formation and drainage works; Coordinate and compile reports on supervision activities including site progress reports and reports on non-conformities; Assist the RSE/RGE to appraise and monitor the structural stability of adjacent buildings, structures, slopes, streets and services before and after construction; Check the works in compliance with the approved plans and contractual requirements, method statements, precautionary and protective measures; Check and resolve any discrepancies between drawings, specifications, and actual site situations; Review Contractor’s submissions; Monitor the work of the Registered Contractor’s TCPs; Attend site meetings and project meetings, QA/QC meetings and other necessary meetings, and assist and coordinate with the design office for all site works/matters; Keep records of daily site inspection activities with details to the satisfaction of the RSE/RGE. Prepare and submit bi-weekly site reports, QA/QC reports, inspection reports, defect reports, site records and other reports as necessary; Enforce ethics and compliance policy including Third Party payment, Sub-consultancy engagement process and Gift and Entertainment policy. Requirements Bachelor or Master degree in Civil/Structural/Geotechnical Engineering; MHKIE or equivalent and Registered Professional Engineer (Civil / Structural); Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with superstructure and civil drainage works, ELS, site formation. Building Works with significant geotechnical content would be an advantage; Ability to coordinate with other parties in the construction site environment; Ability to lead the site office and supervise the site team; Experience and awareness in contractual issues in construction; Fluency in written and spoken English and Cantonese. Assistant Resident Engineer (TCP T3 – Site Formation, ELS & Superstructure Works) Perform statutory duties as T3 required by the RSE and RGE including those relating to Technical Competent Person requirement pursuant to the Supervision Plan of the Buildings Department; Accountable and report to the AP/RSE/RGE under supervision of the RSE/RGE’s Representative; Provide professional assistance to Resident Engineer/TCP T5 or design office as appropriate; Carry out specific tasks as per requirement and checklist devised from RSE/RGE and representative of Client; Check the works in compliance with the approved plans, the approved temporary works, method statements, precautionary and protective measures; Monitor the work of the Registered Contractor’s TCPs; Deal with non-conformities by making referral to the RSE/RGE’s representative and notify TCPs in other streams; Assist to check the contractor’s structural works are in compliance with the statutory and contractual requirements; Enforce ethics and compliance policy including Third Party payment, Sub-consultancy engagement process and Gift and Entertainment policy; Implement and monitor the quality assurance system, site safety and environmental systems on site; Attend Site Progress Meetings, QA/QC Meetings and any other necessary meetings; Assist to prepare and submit bi-weekly site reports, QA/QC reports, inspection reports, defects reports, site records and other reports as necessary; Maintain an effective, neat, orderly, and readily accessible filling system for all correspondence, site records and reports, contract documents, construction drawings and BD approved drawings; Carry out additional duties as required by the RSE/RGE and/or RE(S&G); Keep records of daily site inspection activities with details to the satisfaction of the RSE/RGE and/or RE(S&G). Requirements Minimum 5 years of relevant experience post Higher certificate or higher diploma in civil/structural/geotechnical engineering; or Minimum 2 years of relevant experience post Degree in Civil/Structural/Geotechnical Engineering; Relevant experience with superstructure, civil drainage works, ELS, site formation.
