Assistant Professor - Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies (SSPS) is a research‑intensive department that prides itself on multidisciplinary social science research and policy analysis focused on social, economic, political and geographical phenomena, educational issues, and their implications for policy making at local, national and global contexts. The department’s faculty engage in innovative research on gender, family, youth, community, citizenship, minorities, immigration, climate change, sustainability, governance, urban and social policy, business, finance, entrepreneurship, and education. SSPS offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. To further enhance its research and teaching strengths, the department invites applications for a full‑time Assistant Professor with research expertise in personal finance planning, finance (including Business Finance, Sustainable Finance, ESG and corporate governance). Applicants should have a PhD in finance, economics, business administration or related fields, and preferably post‑qualification teaching experience in higher education or other relevant professional qualifications. Applicants must provide evidence of achievements in research and teaching philosophy, and a statement of teaching and research interests. A professional and research network conducive to overseas exchange, especially with cities in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), would also be useful. The appointee is expected to be an active researcher, collaborate with colleagues on research leading to publications in leading international journals, and successfully acquire external research funding. Responsibilities include teaching, research, knowledge transfer activities, project supervision, curriculum and programme development, and management of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Initial appointment will be on a fixed‑term contract. Fringe benefits include the University’s voluntary contributions to the MPF scheme or a contract‑end lump sum payment (up to 15% of the basic salary), leave, medical and dental benefits, and, where applicable, housing benefits.
