Principal Investment Manager - Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Lead/Principal Investment Officer, Loan Syndication The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank focused on financing sustainable infrastructure in Asia and beyond. Financial Institutions and Funds Clients, Global Department (FIF) is responsible for executing transactions and expanding AIIB’s client relationships with institutions and funds in the infrastructure sector worldwide. The department supports the Bank’s Corporate Strategy and targets opportunities aligned with AIIB’s Mobilizing Private Capital and Investing in Equity strategies, including collateralized loan obligations and other structured products. The Lead/Principal Officer, Loan Syndication reports to the Director General (DG), FIF, and collaborates with the Head of Syndication and the syndication team to grow the pool of commercial lenders, funds, and insurers. The role leads the transaction teams, structures and executes projects in partnership with project team leaders across departments, ensuring commercial and financial viability, risk allocation, and market‑rate returns. Responsibilities Assist the DG, FIF, and Head of Syndication in managing the team and coordinating with the Project and Corporate Clients Department, Financial Institutions vertical, Funds and Financial Sponsors vertical, Structured Product and Fixed Income vertical, Risk Management Department, Legal Department, Controller Department, and Project Monitoring Department. Support the Head of Syndication in developing a high‑quality project pipeline. Manage day‑to‑day operations of the transaction team. Collaborate with the DG and Head on strategic planning to deepen the financier pool and optimize portfolio performance. Contribute to the development of relevant products (e.g., guarantees), operational procedures, strategies, guidelines, and programs for FIF. Participate in recruitment and team‑development efforts as required. Represent the department in internal and external meetings and events as assigned. Assist with annual business planning and budget management for the vertical. Requirements 15–20 years of relevant professional experience in MDBs or top‑tier global financial institutions. Master’s degree in finance, economics, business, development studies, or related fields. In‑depth knowledge of MDB syndication products and international project finance or corporate finance. Strong relationships with financial institutions across multiple geographical regions covered by AIIB. Track record of origination, structuring, and execution of successful infrastructure transactions across jurisdictions. Strong credit and process management skills. Strong managerial and interpersonal skills to promote teamwork. Demonstrated ability to manage diverse teams and stakeholders, both internal and external. Flexibility to work in AIIB’s Operational Hubs after posting in headquarters. High proficiency in English; knowledge of languages of key FIF markets (Arabic, Bahasa, Chinese, French, Spanish/Portuguese, Russian, Turkish) is a plus.
