Founder & CEO @ Choco Up | Tech-enabled Funding Solutions for Your Businesses l SG HK AU Your Role As a Software Engineer (Backend) in Choco Up, you will be part of the growing development team to build our market‑leading fintech and growth products that help digital merchants in Asia boost business growth. You will be based in Hong Kong and work closely with the Product and Development team in Hong Kong and Singapore. Products you may work on include dashboards and business intelligence, digital wallet, global payments, global business banking, corporate cards, data integrations, data analytics (AI/ML), etc. What will you do Drive the technical direction for backend projects leveraging AWS cloud services, MongoDB, TypeScript, and Express.js to build scalable, secure, and performant applications. Design, develop, and maintain robust backend architectures, ensuring high‑quality code, adherence to best practices, and efficient Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. Collaborate closely with product managers, stakeholders, and cross‑functional teams to gather requirements, define technical solutions, and deliver backend services that align with business objectives. Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical challenges related to backend systems, cloud infrastructure, and data management, ensuring system reliability and scalability. Implement AWS cloud‑native development practices, including infrastructure as code, serverless computing, and cloud security best practices. Conduct peer reviews of code and design deliverables to ensure code quality, compliance with standards, and early identification of potential issues. Work collaboratively with frontend developers and other teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of solutions. Candidates with more extensive experience and demonstrated skills will be considered for the position of Senior Software Engineer. Who Fits This Role Proven backend development experience with at least 2 years of hands‑on work building and maintaining scalable, production‑grade backend systems. Proficiency with MongoDB, TypeScript, and Express.js for backend development, with deep understanding of database design, API development, and scalable architectures. Proficiency in AWS infrastructure, including core services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, ECS) and DevOps practices such as infrastructure as code, monitoring, and automation pipelines. Experience implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, specifically using GitHub Actions for automated build, test, and deployment workflows. Experience working within Agile methodologies, contributing effectively as part of agile teams and supporting continuous delivery with CI/CD pipelines. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills to effectively work with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to mentor and inspire engineers for continuous improvement and high‑quality outcomes. Experience in frontend development technologies is an additional advantage, facilitating deeper collaboration with frontend teams.
