Hong Kong Academy (HKA) is seeking a strategic and collaborative PYP Coordinator/Coach to provide pedagogical leadership and ensure the integrity and continuous advancement of our Primary School curriculum (Pre‑K to Grade 5). Reporting to the Primary School Principal, this key leadership role demands expertise in PYP philosophy, curriculum design, and instructional coaching. You will be instrumental in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, aligning all practices with the HKA mission, and ensuring seamless continuity of learning across the school by working closely with the MYP and DP Coordinators. Responsibilities Provide pedagogical leadership to Primary School staff to ensure effective planning, implementation, and review of the PYP. Maintain the integrity of the PYP philosophy, standards, and practices. Integrate the Programme of Inquiry (PoI) with HKA Curriculum Standards and PYP Subject Learning Continuums. Embed Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles across all curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment practices. Lead the development, documentation, and articulation of the Programme of Inquiry (PoI). Support faculty in the review and analysis of assessment data to evaluate curriculum effectiveness, adapt instruction, and inform planning. Oversee the Social‑Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum across all primary grades in partnership with the Primary School Counsellor. Liaise consistently with the Student Support Services (SSS) team to co‑plan and align practices, ensuring diverse educational needs are met through appropriate interventions. Facilitate weekly PYP meetings grounded in Adaptive Schools practices and the 7 Norms of Collaborative Work to promote productive and reflective dialogue. Coach teachers on PYP philosophy, inquiry‑based teaching, UDL strategies, and assessment, utilizing coaching models such as Cognitive Coaching. Utilize tools and structures from Adaptive Schools to build teacher capacity for self‑directed learning, critical thinking, and collective efficacy. Advocate, collaborate, and lead Primary Years initiatives as a key member of the Primary School Leadership Team and the overall Educational Leadership Team (ELT). Manage standardized and diagnostic testing for the Primary School. Co‑lead the organization and planning of the annual Grade 3‑5 camp experiences. Provide coverage for teachers (Pre‑K to G5) as needed. Participate in daily arrival & dismissal, and weekly lunch/recess supervision duties. Qualifications & Experience Advanced Education: An advanced degree or equivalent professional qualifications in Education. PYP Expertise: Significant teaching experience in a PYP school setting. Leadership Experience: Previous experience as a PYP Coordinator or similar leadership role. IB Certification: PYP authorization experience and/or IB PYP Leading the Learning certification. Coaching & Collaboration: Demonstrated experience with and/or certification in Adaptive Schools and/or Cognitive Coaching. Inclusion Focus: Demonstrated experience working with diverse learner needs and intervention frameworks such as Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Essential Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. HKA Culture: A positive steward of the HKA Culture of Belonging.
