Job Title: Legal Counsel – Crypto or Fintech Location: Hong Kong Company Overview: Our client is an innovative AI software and solutions consultancy dedicated to developing cutting‑edge AI agents and solutions specifically for the cryptocurrency sector. Their in‑house legal team is committed to balancing technological advancement with robust legal frameworks to ensure compliance and operational success. Responsibilities: Legal Advice: Provide legal counsel on a diverse range of commercial, civil, and operational matters, balancing risk with business objectives. Litigation Management: Manage and coordinate litigation, dispute resolution, and legal correspondence, including demand letters, settlements, and pre‑action strategies. Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, service contracts, NDAs, and partnership documents. Regulatory Support: Support regulatory and compliance matters in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external advisors. External Counsel Liaison: Liaise with external counsel to ensure efficient handling of legal matters, litigation cases, and documentation. Monitoring Developments: Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the company’s business across various jurisdictions. Internal Governance: Assist with internal governance, record‑keeping, and contract management processes. General Legal Support: Provide general legal support to business teams on strategic initiatives, operational risks, and legal documentation. Requirements: Legal Qualification: Degree in Law and qualified to practice in a common law jurisdiction. Experience: 3–10 years PQE (HK qualified but PRC and others will be considered), with a strong grounding in civil and commercial law, and hands‑on experience in corporate litigation or dispute resolution. Work Environment: Experience in both law firm and in‑house environments preferred but with Fintech start‑up or Crypto Exchanges is highly preferred. Independence: Ability to work independently on a broad range of legal issues and manage external counsel effectively. Communication Skills: Excellent written – Chinese and English and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail. Crypto Knowledge: Experience in the cryptocurrency or virtual assets sector is highly desirable BUT not crypto mining (that’s more hardware). Mandarin Proficiency: Fluent to native level in Mandarin is absolutely required, with Fluent English. Professionalism: Strong sense of accountability, professionalism, and commercial judgment.
