Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market and reputation risks. We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Risk Actuary, INHK.
Principal Responsibilities
The jobholder will be a senior member of the Risk team accountable for providing assurance on Hong Kong Insurance's fulfilment of actuarial responsibilities, including ensuring assumption setting, financial and capital reporting, pricing, actuarial modelling, and discretionary benefit or charging decisions are performed in a robust, controlled, professional, objective and transparent manner, and comply with relevant Group and regulatory standards. The jobholder will require sufficiently strong technical and communication skills to provide robust challenge to the Chief Actuary across all areas of actuarial activity and contribute in governance forums on matters of financial risk management. The jobholder will also work closely with the subject matter experts in the Risk community to fulfil their responsibilities.
- Lead the annual Own Risk and Solvency Assessment cycle, drive continuous improvements and ensure the ORSA is sufficiently embedded in day-to-day risk management.
- IFRS17 reporting: Work with Finance to review and challenge the entity's IFRS17 reporting results.
- HKRBC and Economic Capital reporting: Review, challenge and approve the entity's capital reporting results.
- Stress and Scenario Testing: Set stresses and scenarios for internal and regulatory testing; and review, challenge and approve the entity's stress and scenario testing results.
- Experience Analysis: Review and challenge assumptions used for pricing, financial reporting and capital calculations.
- Pricing and product development: Review, challenge and approve pricing and product developments performed for the entities to ensure they are robust and meet both policyholder and shareholder expectations.
- Modelling: Review, challenge and approve key model developments by the entities; attend the entity's Model Oversight Forums.
- Reinsurance: Review, challenge and approve actuarial aspects of reinsurance programmes and local reinsurance transactions.
- Discretionary benefit or charging decisions: Review, challenge and approve policyholder dividend/crediting rate policy and declarations, and reviews of discretionary charges, to ensure fair outcomes for policyholders, appropriate consideration of shareholder implications and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Macau RBC: Lead the RBC Pillar 2 implementation for Macau branch; provide independent assurance on Pillar 1 Quantitative Impact Study and implementation.
