We have a fantastic opportunity at our McNamara Lodge for an out-of-the-box and forward-thinking Therapy Assistant As a Therapy Assistant with RAAFA, you will work closely with both the Lifestyle Coordinator and the Occupational Therapist to assess residents' needs and preferences to develop appropriate one-on-one or group programs, assist in the development and delivery of group and individual therapies and note changes in residents' well-being and advise staff of these. A Therapy Assistant with RAAFA is always involved in the continuous improvement of the service.

This role as a Therapy Assistant will see you:

  • Assist in the implementation of therapy programs including group and individual activities.
  • Assist in assessing residents' needs and preferences and help develop appropriate programs in relation to the individual.
  • Supervise volunteers who are assisting with the program.
  • Complete documentation and reporting in relation to the role.
  • Communicate with Allied Health and Clinical teams on the outcome of programs for the residents.

The beautifully refurbished 96-bed Residential Care Centre offers both permanent and respite care along with comprehensive activity programs to ensure our residents keep their bodies and minds active day-to-day. Located in the heart of the RAAFA retirement village in the southern suburb of Meadow Springs, Mandurah, our homely bedrooms have direct access to landscaped gardens and pathways where you can take a stroll, relax, and enjoy the fresh air. With luscious plant-filled atriums located throughout the lodge, this is a truly stunning place to work

About you:

  • Previous, demonstrated experience working in Residential Aged Care.
  • Ability to work autonomously and with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proactive with a positive 'get up and go' attitude.
  • Flexible with start and finish times.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to relate to the elderly with empathy and understand their needs.
  • Demonstrate flexible decision-making and advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to effectively plan and prioritise work tasks.
  • Enjoy building positive relationships with residents, their families and staff.
