The Global Engagement and Communications Office is seeking a high calibre communication expert who can work in a dynamic and multi-tasking environment. This pivotal role supports the Associate Vice-President (Global Engagement and Communications) (AVP(GE&C)) and the Director of Public Affairs and Communications (DPAC) in strategizing and implementing communication initiatives aimed at elevating HKUST’s international and local brand profile. The successful candidate will be taking a leading role in formulating comprehensive communications and content strategies to expand our global audience reach and strengthen our brand image and visibility among target stakeholders. Playing a dynamic role as a corporate writer and a contributor of innovative content ideas, the appointee will support the AVP(GE&C) and DPAC on setting the overall content direction and narrative for the University. Being a gatekeeper to uphold the highest editorial standards, the appointee is also expected to offer professional advice to senior management and other internal stakeholders.

Leading a small team with external editorial support, the appointee will be responsible for developing a broad spectrum of communications materials for the University. The job involves crafting speeches and key messages for senior management, and developing presentation materials, feature stories and promotional content in both video and written forms. These tasks must be completed with timeliness, efficiency and a high standard of professionalism. The appointee will also spearhead the production of high-impact university publications, such as the annual report and e-newsletters, in addition to copywriting for corporate collateral and web content.

Applicants should have a relevant bachelor’s degree with at least 12 years of professional experience in corporate communications and publications. Ideal candidates should have a proven track record in writing and editing a wide variety of content. The candidates should also possess high English proficiency, along with an excellent command of Chinese (proficiency in simplified Chinese writing will be a plus). The candidates should be highly creative, flexible, and efficient with strong PowerPoint skills. Excellent project management and interpersonal skills are required, as is a broad understanding of developments in education, science, innovation, and technology, as well as current affairs. To excel in this role, the candidates must demonstrate a high level of resilience and resourcefulness, and be a strong team player, a strategic thinker, and a leader capable of multitasking and meeting tight deadlines. Candidates with less experience will be considered for appointment as Manager (Communications and Content). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview and a written test. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
