Division: Travel Retail Asia - Finance

Line Manager : Commercial Finance Manager

Location : Hong Kong

We are looking for a Business Analyst for Travel Retail Asia business, based in Hong Kong. The role will report to Commercial Finance Manager, with one of the key responsibilities to partner with the commercial team to understand and monitor business performance drivers and to provide relevant recommendations.

Successful candidate will need to collaborate extensively and effectively with various stakeholders, including but not limited to Management, Commercial, Marketing, and Demand Planning teams.

Position Summary:

  • To provide a balanced view & recommendation on the business strategy (from a brand and customer management POV) on Product, Customer and Promotional mechanics
  • To provide management a complete “big picture” of what is driving the business performance
  • To provide recommendation on what we should do given the business context with strong business acumen
  • To protect and maximize value of the business by ensuring the pricing is correct and appropriate. Ensure customer contracts/rebates/incentives etc makes financial sense and makes sense from a customer POV, ensure money is invested where it should be and measure/monitor the ROI of investments/promotion.
  • To take an active part in Global Travel Retail /Group projects and other initiatives as required.
  • To provide insights and recommendations on ad-hoc projects and requests.

Key responsibilities / Accountabilities :

  • Analyze business performance and share insights, including analysis of sales depletion, customer inventory level, pricing and competitor activities, by utilizing various data sources and market intelligence available (IWSR, PAXSMART, data provided by customers and brand consultants)
  • Work closely with KAMs to understand and monitor business performance drivers. Highlight potential issues and to provide recommendations.
  • Work closely with KAMS and MAMS to review promotion and activation performance against set KPIs (Volume uplift, RSV, CAAP, ROI etc.). Assist in providing recommendations on what went well and what could be improved.
  • Preparation of monthly commentary and Business Review document ahead of the monthly meetings. Circulate report to all relevant parties.
  • Provide analysis on sales of brands under allocations and work with Demand Planning team to recommend re-allocation when appropriate.
  • Participate in monthly sales forecast to ensure the forecasting is in line with business trend
  • Ensure accuracy of depletions and pricing data entered into the Off-take database
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports, analysis and presentations as needed to support customer meetings, VIP visits and global review meetings
  • Ad-hoc projects as assigned, e.g. process improvements, Group initiatives

Qualifications and Skills Requirements:

  • Degree in Business Administration or relevant discipline. Holder with professional accounting qualifications, e.g. ACCA, HKICPA, CMA, is an advantage.
  • At least 5 years’ experience with minimum 2 years relevant experiences in sales data analysis & management. Candidate with more experiences may consider for Senior Business Analyst role.
  • Prior multinational companies and FMCG exposure is preferable
  • Strong excel & analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge in information systems (ERP, BI) and business intelligence is required
  • Good communication skille with excellent command in written and spoken English
  • Multi-tasking capability and manage to work under tight deadlines
  • Positive and can-do mindset towards work
  • Initiator & challenger
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills, capable of working with all levels and all functions within the organisation
  • Mastery of English is a must, another Asian language is a nice to have
