About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, responsible for leading all aspects of our interest rate strategy for the par funds from the daily management of the hedging programme through to the long term fixed income and hedging strategy.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for all day-to-day management of the hedging programme including monitoring the hedge position, providing rebalancing orders as a function of the rates movements/new business/etc, management of internal stakeholders and communications
  • Help develop and design the future interest rate strategy including but not limited to developing the hedging framework, adding new instruments, inclusion of convexity management, optimization of hedging performance, implementation of internal hedging with other books, optimization of collateral strategy
  • Lead the transition of the current buy-and-hold fixed income strategy to a total return strategy including scope of work, selection of benchmarks and approach to implementation
  • Lead the annual review of the hedging programme to ensure it continues to meet our desired objectives including setting target hedge ratios, approach to calculation of DV01 and par surplus, setting of collateral limits, etc and leading the internal and external communications associated with any changes
  • Be a key consultant to product pricing as to how to optimize pricing rates and illustrations when considering the hedging of new business
  • Performs other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor in order to meet operational and/or other requirement.
  • Ensure team members who perform regulated activities have obtained the relevant licenses and fulfilled the licensing requirements.


Minimum Job Requirements:

  • University graduate in Actuarial Science or Statistics with at least 10 years' post-qualification experience in life insurance industry.
  • Past hands on experience with hedging programmes
  • Sound people management and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and project management skills.
  • Possess business acumen, be innovative and self-driven.
  • Ability to deal with and handle multiple and changing priorities.
  • Knowledge in insurance products and various financial reporting bases
  • Knowledge in asset liability management and investment management will be an advantage
  • Proficiency in Business Software, Actuarial Software
  • You are required to obtain relevant licence if your job involves in regulated activities
