Who we are looking for

State Streetâs electronic foreign exchange offering is a core component of our product range, making markets directly with counterparts, on exchanges and e-trading venues around the globe. Since inception we have sustained a considerable growth trajectory, becoming a significant player in this space by expanding our market making, algorithmic and benchmark execution capabilities. We are seeking an intern level candidate with some solid background in statistical analysis/modelling. This is an excellent opportunity to work with trading algorithms in both technical and business aspects.

The team you will be joining is a part of the eFX team, State Street Global Markets.  State Streetâs eFX business is a global team providing electronic fully automated trading facilities for clients 24 hours a day 5 days a week, typically transacting billions of dollars of foreign exchange currency daily. We employ cutting-edge quantitative and algorithmic trading techniques, as well as the latest technology to engage in high frequency trading and analysis.  Development and enhancement of our algorithms, analytics and technology are crucial to our success in this highly competitive field, not only does it allow us to save execution costs, but also helps to make better informed decisions.

What you will be responsible for

As Intern you will

  • Enhance our trading strategies Pre-trade analytics model. This will be a key part of our offering as we have seen increased demands to have pre-trade to help clients make execution decisions, especially for large order executions.

  • Project will involve researching and formulating a model to estimate cost and impact for executing certain order sizes and currency pairs for different time horizons, whether to use risk-transfer or algos, and what algos to use in different market conditions.

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role

  • Experience with a data analysis & modelling language. (e.g., Python, R, Matlab, etc.)

  • Solid knowledge of statistical analysis, including machine learning.

  • Desire to work within a collaborative, team-driven environment.

  • Strong communicator: be comfortable explaining results to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

  • Having a degree in Mathematics/Data Analytics/Machine Learning/Statistics/Engineering or related fields.

  • Some understanding of Foreign Exchange markets.

  • Eligibility to work in Hong Kong, six-month commitmentâ.
